International Conference on “Changing Dynamics in the Global Village”, INCONSYM 2013 was held on the 5th and 6th of January 2013 at Indian International Centre, New Delhi; organized by Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Noida. The conference was presided over by Ambassador Mr. Prakash Shah, Chairman, Planning and Development Board, Symbiosis while Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis and Acting Vice Chancellor, Symbiosis International University delivered a special address with a focus on SIU initiatives in response to a fast globalizing world. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Nesar Ahmed, President, The Company Secretaries of India, ICSI then elucidated on what the professional institutes need in order to keep pace with the changing dynamics. Finally the Chief Guest H.E. Ambassador Mohammed Hacene Echarif (MNI), Algerian Ambassador to India, enlightened the gathering about the demography of the Algerian population which was followed by the launch of the first volume of Journal of Management Research and the Conference Proceedings by the eminent guests.
I presented a case study titled, Managing Strategic Positioning Through Strategic Leadership: India Bulls Housing Finance Ltd. the session was chaired by Professor (Dr.) S.S. Khanka and Prof. Rajiv Divekar. The study focuses on the role of strategic leadership that empowers an individual to proceed with the strategic decision through self anticipation, vision and flexible mindset. Such decision of strategic leaders intended to help the firm gain competitive advantages within the industry by creating a competitive sustainable positioning through strategic decisive role of organizational leaders. This case based study helps to examine the leadership components and its effect within the realty based financial organizations. It provides a platform for the managers to understand the complexities of such psychological based components and their interactions to build a specific set of style that guide the decision making style, thereby influencing the existing status of the organization. This study also contributes to the theoretical dimension of strategic leadership within Indian organizations.
Approximately 70 papers were presented from the area of finance, human resource management, marketing and operations. Every paper contributed to the change required for the sustenance in the “Global Village”. Overall the conference promoted innovative and creative thinking, both among researchers and academicians to manage the change and accommodate in the Global arena
